Reducing greenhouse-gas emissions while remaining competitive requires more than individual technologies. From 2021 to 2026 Port of Antwerp-Bruges brought the ports of Barcelona, Constanta and Venlo together with 42 industry, knowledge partners and public authorities to test solutions in real-life port environments and translate the learnings into practical transition planning.

The project ended, but the transition continues. Some of PIONEERS pilots are moving towards upscaling and we have developed a method for ports to decarbonise and future-proof their transition, grounded in the experience of 19 pilots and the Green Port Master Plans of the four PIONEERS ports.
